For 20+ years I struggled with my weight. I'm 40- so you can do the math.
I remember being 13 and looking at my friends bodies and aching with jealousy.
So I started running. Running was my gateway drug to obsessive exercise and restrictive eating.
In High School my lunch was reliably a 3oz bag of pretzels and a 1/2 pint of low fat milk.
And it only got more dysfunctional from there. In college my breakfast was a gas station biscuit, a giant coffee and 2 ephedrine pills.
In my early 30's I educated myself on food. I went deep. I knew everything.
But I could not do what I knew.
I would often say- normal people can eat burgers and drink beer and be thin. Why can't I?
Well this is a complex thought. Here's what I know today:
What 'normal' people eat probably isn't good for anyone.
“It is no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society."
~Jiddu Krishnamurti
